Ana de Armas becomes the first Cuban actress to get a Best actor nomination at Oscar

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences recently announced the nominations for the upcoming Academy Awards. Several interesting names were nominated for this year’s Oscar and from India, RRR’s Naatu Naatu has also been nominated for Best Original Song. Aside from that, The Elephant Whisperers have been nominated for Best Documentary Short and All That Breathes has been nominated for Best Documentary Feature Film.

Meanwhile, Ana de Armas has created history in this year’s Oscar by being the first Cuban to be nominated for Best actress. She received the nomination for her role in Blonde. The actress played the iconic role of Marilyn Monroe in the movie. Ana de Armas previously bagged the SAG and BAFTA nominations as well for this role.

Talking more about her movie, Blonde was written and directed by Andrew Dominik and it is based on Joyce Carol Oates’s novel of the same name. The movie centers around the life of Marilyn Monroe and it also featured Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale, Xavier Samuel, and Julianne Nicholson. The movie is currently available on Netflix.
