Anurag Basu who is currently shooting his upcoming movie Metro… In Dino, will be directing the biopic of the late RAW officer Ravindra Kaushik. The movie is titled The Black Tiger as it was the name given to Kaushik by former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Talking more about the Indian spy, the makers said, “His intuitive and timely reporting of critical information ensured that Indian Security Forces, between 1974 to 1983, were constantly steps ahead of any move Pakistan was planning to make.”
Expressing his thoughts regarding the venture, director Basu said, “Ravindra Kaushik’s story is that of courage and valor. At the young age of 20 years, he played a pivotal role in many national and international security matters of the 70s and 80s that went on to define India’s as well as South Asia’s geo-political character. So much of our history is either hidden or forgotten. We ought to recognize and learn about this unsung hero.”
According to the reports, Kaushik’s family has given their consent for the biopic and is helping the makers to get more information regarding his life. Anuraj Basu himself is financing this venture with R Vivek, Asvin Srivatsangam, and Divay Dhamija, and they have not revealed who will play the role of Kaushik at the moment.
