Avatar The Way of Water box office: James Cameron’s project becomes the 6th fastest film to cross the $1 billion mark
James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office in just 14 days. With such collections, the movie has become the 6th fastest movie to hit the $1 billion mark after Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which crossed the mark in 14 days as well.
However, the movie still has a tough challenge to face to surpass the original 2009 movie and become the highest-grossing film of all time. Nonetheless, Avatar: The Way of Water has become the third highest-grossing movie released during the pandemic era and surpassed the collections of Doctor Strange And The Multiverse of Madness. Soon the movie is expected to cross Jurassic World: Dominion for the 2nd position on the list.
For those who don’t know, the first place on the list is taken by Spider-Man: No Way Home which crossed the $1 billion mark in 12 days and minted over $1.91 billion during the pandemic era. For a better perspective, the original Avatar movie still reigns supreme at the box office, with a worldwide collection of $2.97 billion.
Coming back to the movie, Avatar: The Way of Water, was released globally on December 16, and it featured Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, and Jemaine Clement. The movie continues the story of Na’vi tribes of Pandora and it has been nominated for two awards at next year’s Golden Globes.
