Besharam Rang Row intensifies; MP Ulema Board threatens to halt the movie’s release

A while back, the first single from Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Pathaan was released. The song was titled Besharam Rang and it featured Deepika and SRK. After its release, many people found fault with the song’s costume and its lyrics. Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra questioned the questionable costume of the song and Maharashtra BJP MLA Ram Kadam claimed that the lyrics insult Hindutva.

Now, the Muslim religious board has also sided against the song and the Madhya Pradesh Ulema Board has claimed that the song has not only hurt the sentiments of Pathaans but the entire Muslim community.

“The Pathans are one of the most respectable Muslim communities. Not just the Pathans but the entire Muslim community is being defamed in this film. The name of the film is Pathaan and women are seen performing obscene dances in it. Pathans are being portrayed wrongly in the film,” said the president of the Madhya Pradesh Ulema Board.

Threatening to halt the release of the movie, he said, “The makers should remove the name, Pathaan. Shah Rukh Khan should change the name of his character. After that, do whatever you want. But we will not allow this film to be released in India. We will fight a legal battle and also file an FIR. The sentiments of the Muslim community have been hurt by this film. We will not allow this film to be released, not just in Madhya Pradesh but across the country.”
