Bhushan Kumar says he won’t incur losses by working with actors who charge ₹20-25 cr
As Bollywood had a terrible run at the box office last year, many are thinking that the whole process has to change in the coming days if the industry wants to flourish in the future. While some have realized this fact some are still putting on airs by charging astronomical sums of ₹20-25 cr for a single movie despite not producing results at the box office. Addressing this issue in an interview, Bhushan Kumar, one of the top producers in Indian cinema said he is done pampering Bollywood stars who charge ₹20-25 cr for a film while not understanding the scale of the film.
“Still now some actors say things like, ‘We will charge this amount or we won’t work.’ So, we are not working with them, we are saying ‘it’s fine, don’t do it then.’ Why should we give in to losses?… You take ₹20 crores 25 crores, and we will suffer the losses with the film…When the question comes to a project that is small and cannot take the cost that large, there we are in talks with the actor),” he said boldly in the interview.
Like him, Karan Johar had also called out certain actors in the industry who charge a lot for a single movie while failing to give ₹5 crore on the opening day.
