Cirkus Review: Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh combo delivers again after Simmba!
Ranveer Singh, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Pooja Hegde starrer Cirkus released today, December 2023, and here is a review you might want to read before getting a ticket this weekend.
The movie centers around the story of a set of identical twins living in Mr. Roy Jamnadas’s orphanage. Mr. Roy (Murali Sharma) who is a doctor and firm believer in ‘nurture above nature’ sets out to prove that the majority of a person’s traits come from the values one imbibes rather than inheritance. To prove his theory he takes drastic measures and separates the twins. While one set- Joy (Varun Sharma) and Roy (Ranveer Singh) are enjoying their life in Bangalore the others are running a Cirkus in Ooty. They reunite after Joy and Roy decide to visit Ooty. The comedy and chaos begin after their arrival.
Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh’s combo works great in this movie. After Simmba they have come together for a proper project, and they deliver slapstick comedies in bulk. The larger-than-life colorful sets and the scenic views all blend well to keep the viewers engaged. The costume and makeup of the actors also convince the people that the story is set in the 60s.
The sound and screenplay are also noteworthy and they manage to elevate the whole experience. One of the highlights of the movie is The ‘Current Laga Re’ track which features Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh in a single frame.
What doesn’t work?
Despite, Cirkus having its moment, the movie for some might fell a bit short to reach the level of Golmaal. Though we shouldn’t compare these movies, one can’t feel but wonder about such things after seeing the same cast. Other than that the VFX of the movie looks amateurish at times and the story feels average.
The supporting cast keeps the tempo fast but overall when you only consider the story without the comedy, you will release just how simple and uninteresting the movie actually is. Jacqueline Fernandez and Pooja Hegde perform well but their roles have very little significance.
As Rohit Shetty always goes with the same cast, you can’t get it wrong with all the veteran comedy actors like Siddharth Jadhav, Sanjay Mishra, Johny Lever, Tiku Talsania, Ashwini Kalsekar, Mukesh Tiwari, Anil Charanjeett, Vijay Patkar, Vrajesh Hirjee, and Sulabha Arya. Ranveer also does a remarkable job in his dual role and Varun Sharma makes people effortlessly laugh.
Cirkus is filled with comedy and entertainment. If you are a fan of Rohit Shetty then other than flying cars, you will get everything you need in this movie. Overall, despite the average story, the cast keeps things interesting till the end and you won’t be losing money buying a ticket to Cirkus.
