DC announces the fate of 2 Justice League Actors!
Ever since DC Studios got under the new management under co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran, the reports of DC getting a reboot have been going on the media. James Gunn has also been very vocal about the reboot and has announced that several characters will be recast in the coming days.
One such character that Gunn has planned to recast is Superman. Recently Henry Cavill was fired as Superman and answering fans’ questions Gunn revealed that Cavill won’t be returning as the man of steel. Stating the same the Suicide Squad and Peacemaker filmmaker pointed out that Cavill was “not fired.” “It’s important to say that Henry Cavill was not fired. Henry was just not hired to be Superman in ‘Superman [:Legacy].’ There was never a deal there for another movie,” Gunn said.
Mentioning Cavill’s cameo in Black Adam, Gunn said, “We didn’t fire Henry. Henry was never cast. He was in a cameo, and that was the end of his story.” Gunn even made it clear that they want to cast a young actor to play Superman to change the story. “A lot of people made assumptions which weren’t true. But for me, it’s about who do I want to cast as Superman and who do the filmmakers want to cast,” added the head of DC Studio.
Aside from Henry Cavill, Gunn has confirmed that Ben Affleck will not be returning as Batman. The DC Studios co-CEO revealed that they plan to show Batman “a couple years older than Superman,” going forward. This hinted that Ben Affleck’s version of Batman won’t be making his return in the new movie about Gotham’s protector: The Brave and The Bold. However, Affleck will return as Bruce Wayne once in the upcoming Flash movie.
As for the other Justice League members, Gal Gadot’s future as Wonder Woman is still not certain at the moment and there is a high possibility that she might not get recast. Other than that, the fate of Ezra Miller as Flash and Jason Momoa as Aquaman is safe at the moment but in a few years, DC might go for a younger cast to keep the story going.
