Designer Anamika Khanna spent 10,000 hours in Athiya Shetty’s wedding lehenga to make her look special!
Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul got married yesterday in an intimate ceremony. Though the ceremony was kept under wraps by the couple the pictures of how they looked and what they wore for the big day are currently circulating through the internet.
KL Rahul wore an embroidered ivory sherwani made by Anamika Khanna for the wedding and Athiya looked dreamy in a pink chikankari handmade lehenga made by the designer.
Athiya’s lehenga was handmade, handwoven, in silk with beautiful zardozi and jaali work. It featured a veil and dupatta made of silk with intricate handiwork.
In an interview with Vogue, Anamika Khanna mentioned that it took her approximately 10,000 hours to make the lehenga. Further talking about the design inspiration, Anamika said, “Athiya’s got extremely fine, subtle, and beautiful taste. I wanted to develop something special for her that was resonant with the fact that she was going to be the bride, but she was never going to be that bride for whom everything else takes over. She has a very strong personality, and I think she’s acutely aware of it.”
“Nothing is screaming for attention [with the lehenga], and yet, it’s just so her. Safe to say that it is not an outfit she will get bored of even in the coming years,” Anamika added.
