Ajay Devgn starrer Drishyam 2 released today and it is worth a watch. The team has done justice to the original Malayalam movie and has delivered a powerful package to keep the viewers grabbed.

Before we head into the movie let’s talk about the prequel. In the first part of Drishyam, we see Vijay Salgaokar (Ajay Devgn) doing everything in his power to save his family. He manages to save his family from the murder charges but unfortunately, the 7-year-old case is now back to give them tough times once again.

Considering how the first part was released 7 years ago, it is commendable how the actors went back to their roles so masterfully. Ajay as Vijay gave the same level of performance as he did in the original part. Tabu does get less screen time than in the first part but she still delivers a powerful performance. Shriya Saran also gives a great performance that shows the suffering one goes through when their family is in trouble. Akshay Khanna who is a new addition to the franchise is charismatic and remarkable in his role.

Coming back to what’s good in the movie, the second half of Drishyam 2 is well executed especially the last 40 minutes delivers one after another twist that keeps the viewers hooked. This doesn’t break the flow of the movie and is well-connected. Nothing is that different than the original Malayalam movie but kudos to Abhishek Pathak for executing the story so nicely.

However, one flaw in the movie is the weak first part which feels needlessly long. The first 60 minutes of the movie lack many gripping scenes which makes viewers lose interest. This could have been rectified during the editing but as the original Malayalam version also had this flaw, one can’t complain a lot. Some might even like the long first part to connect with the story.

Overall, the first half lowers the expectation of the movie but the latter half comes as a surprise punch to the viewers. Drishyam 2 has done justice to the Malayalam version and it is worth the watch.
