Jacqueline Fernandez breathes a sigh of relief after getting bail in Rs. 200 Crore extortion case
After making regular visits to the court, Jacqueline Fernandez finally got bail in Rs. 200 crore extortion case. Delhi’s Patiala House court granted bail to the actress on Tuesday and asked her to sign a bail bond of Rs. 2 lakh in the case. The actress appealed for bail, saying that the investigation of Sukesh Chandrasekhar’s case was already almost over and as the charge sheet was submitted, she did not need to be kept in custody.
As the Enforcement Directorate( ED) fought against that argument by claiming the actress was a flight risk, the bail proceedings were extended this long. In this regard, the court criticized the ED for not detaining the actress and said, “Why haven’t you arrested Jacqueline yet despite issuing a LOC? Other accused are in jail. Why adopt a pick-and-choose policy?”
For those who don’t know, the ED named the actress an accused in the additional charge sheet and they claimed that Jacqueline was aware that Sukesh was involved in a scam. Also, as the actress and her family “benefitted” from the scam, ED named her one of the accused in this case.
