Laththi Movie Review: Vinoth Kumar’s different approach for a cop action drama!

Vishal starrer Laththi released today in the theatres and the movie is getting good reviews from the viewers. The movie’s plot centers around Muruganandam (Vishal) who is a constable and Laththi specialist. He faced the wrath of a notorious gangster and as a result, puts his 10-year-old son’s life in danger.

Unlike the cliches cop story, director Vinoth Kumar shows a slightly different perspective to the table with Laththi. Unlike, how the movies that show cop as this superhero who makes a grand entrance in bikes and flying cars, Laththi shows the story of a lower rank constable that is a Laththi specialist. This new side is quite appealing and it makes people root for the main character.

The director has also written an engaging screenplay to keep the viewers captivated.

What doesn’t work?

Despite the good intention, the second half of the movie is a bit disappointing. It is not bad in any way but as the story progresses the plot becomes weaker. The second half focuses more on the action sequences which might be entertaining for some but it robs viewers of the chance to connect with the protagonist’s suffering.

Other than that, the action of the movie is impactful and the performance from Prabhu who plays Muruganandam’s superior is amazing. Vishal is the major highlight of the movie, the actor has worked a lot to correctly show the body language of a constable. Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music and background score are also good but it doesn’t help to elevate the tension in the movie.

Overall, the movie is entertaining and it keeps the viewers captivated with an engaging screenplay in the first half. However, with an action-packed second half depending upon viewers’ preference, you might either like the movie or be a bit disappointed.
