Vijay Deverakonda Bollywood debut Liger contrary to the makers’ expectations, did poorly at the box office. The movie was deemed a failure and it resulted in heavy losses. The director of the movie, Puri Jagannadh has now sought police protection claiming he is receiving threats from distributors to settle the losses. Furthermore, it has been reported that the distributors even planned a protest in front of the director’s house in Hyderabad if he refuses to settle their losses.
According to the police complaint, Puri Jagannadh has made it very clear that the distributors have no right to threaten him in any manner and they should rather file a civil case to sort things out. The director has also stated that he has cleared the due amount with distributor Warandal Sreenu and it is Sreenu, who should be held accountable by the sub-distributors.
Meanwhile, a few days ago a phone conversation between Puri Jagannadh and distributors was leaked on Twitter. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma posted a screenshot of the said Whatsapp conversation to the micro-blogging site. The conversation said that a total of 83 were the victim of Liger’s failure and they were planning to do a dharna in front of the director’s house on the 27th of this month. They planned to stay for a minimum of 4 days doing dharna and the one not attending will not be getting anything to settle the loss.
