Pathan row: Mukesh Khanna asks CBFC to take strict actions; says ‘No producer will dare to do this in future’

Recently it was reported that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chairperson has asked the makers to change some portions of Pathaan to pass the board. Though they have not disclosed what the changes are, CBFC has said that they have ‘stayed unbiased’ on this case. Chipping on to this context, actor Mukesh Khanna says that CBFC must change Deepika Padukone’s swimsuit color in the Besharam Rang song.

As the song has supposedly “attacked” religious sentiments by using a saffron color swimsuit, the actor has asked the CBFC to take strict actions against “Besharam Rang”. “I have heard that the CBFC is considering removing objectionable bits from the song. I would urge the censor board to be more aware. If any producer intends to attack the Hindu religion, then you are censor board. Someone told me, ‘Sir, CBFC has passed it, what is your objection to it?’ I said, is the censor board Supreme Court? If they don’t have knowledge of the Hindu religion, then they don’t have the right to be on the censor board. We will protest… This is too much now,” he said.

“If the censor board decides to change the words (of the song), that wouldn’t suffice. The entire dress has to be changed. I am with this movement (to boycott the song) so that no producer dares to do this in the future. They will suffer losses and eventually, no producer will do this,” he further added in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel.

His statements are in response to former CBFC chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani’s statement who has said, “You can suggest changes if there’s vulgarity or obscenity. But if they ask for cuts because of a color, it would be a wrong proceeding.”
