Lyca Productions ended 2022 with a huge announcement. The production house banked on the success of Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 1 and unveiled the release date of the 2nd part today, December 28 along with the teaser of the movie. Sharing the teaser via their official Twitter handle the production house posted a caption saying, “Let’s get those swords in the air as we await the 28th of April 2023!”

Coming to the teaser, the video shows a glimpse of Aditya Karikalan (Vikram), Arulmozhi Varman (Jayam Ravi), and Vandhiyathevan (Karthi). It shows Karikalan infuriated while sitting in front of a Kali statue. A glimpse of Arulmozhi who is walking amidst many monks is also shown in the video. Lastly, the teaser shows, an injured Vandhiyathevan getting back in action.
Circling back to the movie, directed by Mani Ratnam Ponniyin Selvan is an official adaptation of the renowned author Amarar Kalki’s epic historical fiction novel of the same name. The movie featured Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha Krishnan, Jayaram, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prakash Raj, R Sarath Kumar, in the key roles. The movie has music from AR Rahman who is also giving the music for the 2nd part.
