Ranveer Singh’s superhero film Shaktimaan update

Sony Pictures India is planning to make a film on India’s most popular superhero flick Shaktimaan. Ranveer Singh is playing the lead role in the film, as per the reports.

The movie was initially supposed to cast ‘Tanhaji’ director Om Raut, but the latest we hear is the makers are planning to hire South Indian filmmaker and ‘Minnal Murli’ director Basil Joseph. Sources close to producers reveal that Basil is known for Superhero Films, and the director has met the producers of Shaktimaan team multiple times and is expected to be onboard for this project.

“Shaktimaan is a franchise and has good potential for Hindi Cinema, the makers are choosy on penciling in the director. Mukesh Khanna has made the character a household name and the idea is to reintroduce the superhero to today’s audience,” says a source.
