Rishab Shetty’s Kantara sent for Oscar 2023 nominations after SS Rajamouli’s RRR!

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara which became one of the biggest blockbusters of Indian cinema in 2022 has been sent for Oscars 2023 nominations. The producer of the movie, Vijay Kiragandur confirmed this development in an interview however he said the final nominations are yet to come.

“We have submitted our application for Oscars for Kantara and have our fingers crossed as the final nominations are yet to come,” he said. The producer also mentioned that they hope Kanatara finds worldwide recognition for its well-rooted story.

This is the second Indian movie to aim for the Academy Awards after SS Rajamouli’s RRR which get the chance by applying for the ‘For Your Consideration’ campaign for nominations. RRR has been submitted in 14 categories including Best Motion Picture, Best Director (SS Rajamouli), Best Actor in a lead role (Ram Charan and Jr NTR), and more.

Coming back to Kantara, this movie is directed by Rishab Shetty who also plays the male lead of the venture. This movie was financed by Hombale Films and it crosses the Rs 400-crore mark in gross collections worldwide.
