Robert Downey Jr to make his MCU return as a villain?

Robert Downey Jr who is most famous for playing the role of Iron Man in MCU will supposedly be making his comeback as Tony Stark soon. Many have speculated that with the multiverse and variant concept going around we can soon see Downey wearing the iconic suit in the coming movies. However, according to the reports, Downey might return as an evil variant of Iron Man.

RDJ as Iron Man

If reports are to be believed, Iron Man from Earth-838 where Scarlet Witch massacred the Illuminati members might come to Earth-616 to fight the Avengers. Even if the reports are false, Marvel has dropped the ester egg as a hint to introduce Superior Iron Man in the future. For those who might remember, in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, there is a particular scene when Dr. Strange and America Chavez are jumping through the multiverses. In the said scene we can see different universes and in one we see Strak drones the same that was used in Spider-Man: Far From Home with the EDITH program.

This indicates that in one of the universes either Mysterio has won or it is a hint of Superior Iron Man ruling the world. Considering that Marvel has already included that scene in the movie, it won’t be wrong to say that Iron Man will definitely be making his return to the MCU. The only question is will RDJ be the one wearing the suit or will the studios look for someone else to play the part?
