Sanjay Leela Bhansali reaches out to Rekha to rope her in a special song sequence for Heeramandi!

Previously reports claiming Sanjay Leela Bhansali offering a role to Rekha in his upcoming series Heeramandi hit the internet. Later it was announced that Rekha would not be featured in the series but it looks like Sanjay had not given up just yet.

According to recent reports, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has approached Rekha to feature in a special song sequence. Talking about the same, a well-placed source in the industry said, “Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted Rekha to play a prominent role in Heeramandi. However, the actress was reluctant to feature in the series and talks between the two soon fell apart. However, SLB has not given up the idea of having Rekha feature in Heeramandi. As it stands right now, Bhansali is still in talks with Rekha but this time for a much smaller part.”

Revealing more details, the source said, “Currently, Bhansali is in talk with Rekha to feature in a special song sequence at least. He is adamant on having Rekha feature in Heeramandi even if it for a small part.”

Coming back to the series, made by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Heeramandi will explore the stories of courtesans. It is a series about love, betrayal succession, and politics in the kothas and it will unearth the hidden cultural reality of Heeramandi, a district, during pre-independent India.
