Sridevi starrer English Vinglish is set to release in China on her fifth death anniversary!

Sridevi starrer English Vinglish which was released on October 5, 2012, in India has been set to release in China on the actress’s death anniversary. Helmed by Gauri Shinde, English Vinglish will be screened in 6,000 theatres on February 24 in the country. Previously Sridevi starrer Mom was the first movie that was released in China and it become top 10 Indian grosser in the country.

Talking about the same to Pinkvilla, Boney Kapoor said, “This would be Sri’s second film to see a release in China, both unfortunately after she passed away. Mom was her first film and it did very well in China. I hope, English Vinglish creates the same magic.”

Kumar Ahuja, COO of Eros International also talked about the release of English Vinglish in China and said, “Indian films have gradually gained a foothold in the competitive Chinese movie market, the second biggest in the world. We have seen a rising demand for Indian films in China Mainland, especially the ones which are culturally driven. We are excited for the audience in China to marvel at this masterpiece showcasing one of the most memorable performances by the late Bollywood superstar Sridevi.”

English Vinglish marked the directorial debut of Gauri Shinde and it was also the comeback movie of Sridevi after 15 years. The movie revolved around the life of Shashi who is a housewife that is often made fun of by her family for not knowing English.
