Actor Suriya has received Best Actor award at the 68th National Film Awards ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The actor has won the award for his production venture Soorarai Pottru. The movie also won the awards for Best Feature Film, Best Actress, Best Original Screenplay and Best Background Score
Suriya’s wife and actor Jyotika who co-produced the film had received the National Award for Best Feature Film category from President Droupadi Murmu. Both the actors were seen sharing the awards with their children Dev and Diya, who were holding the medals of their parents proudly.
Suriya thanked his director Sudha Kongara Prasad, National Film Award jury and government of India. “We feel like we have come a full cycle with the National Award, winning five National Awards for Soorarai Pottru. We couldn’t have asked for more. And, also almost after 13 years, a Tamil film getting Best Feature Film Award. This is very special,” said the actor.
