Thunivu box office collection day 1: Ajith Kumar’s create a bang in Tamil Nadu!

Ajith Kumar starrer Thunivu was released yesterday and despite the major clash with Varisu, the movie minted great numbers on the opening day. The movie did fall behind Varisu in the overall collection but still managed to mint Rs 26 crore on the first day.

However, Thunivu earned more than Varisu at the Tamil Nadu belt and come out at the top by collecting Rs 18 crore. The movie made Rs 3.5 crore in Karnataka, Rs 2.5- Rs 3 crore in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana region, Rs 1.5 crore in Kerala, but just Rs 50 lakh in the rest of India. As for the occupancy, the movie had around 61% occupancy in the morning and 82% at the night shows. In Chennai, the movie had 98.25 % occupancy throughout the day and 99.5% occupancy at Pondicherry.

Though Thunivu fell Rs 50 lakh short of Vairsu on the first day depending upon the word-of-mouth promotions, the number might change in the coming days.
