Uunchai movie detailed review: A magical ode to friendship!

Sooraj Barjatya has done it again. He has presented a roller coaster of emotions wrapped as a movie to entertain the viewers.

The movie shows three 60-70 years old friends who set out to climb Mount Everest as a tribute to their late friend. Anupam Kher, Amitabh Bachchan, and Boman Irani all veteran actors showed their skills once again and took the viewers with them on an adventure filled with laughter and tears. Unlike Sooraj Barjatya’s movies which are usually based on family drama, Uunchai brings a different twist and flavor of friendship for the fans. The director’s vision to show that friendship can turn into a powerful family is well portrayed by the characters and the background score is well put to match the appropriate scenes.

Every character is well-written and well-executed by the talented cast Danny Denzongpa, Neena Gupta, Sarika, and Pareneeti all do justice to their roles, and help bring Sooraj’s vision come to life.

The movie’s story is not that different than any other Bollywood story on friends but the fresh challenges that arise while climbing Everest and the responses from Amitabh and his friends’ families make the whole cliché a bit different from the bunch.

Now talking about one flaw in the movie, the plot of Uunchai is announced in advance which makes viewers feel the story is going at a slow pace during the first half. The character buildup and setup do help later to connect with the situation more but during the first half, many might feel that it is needlessly long.

Other than that, there is not much to complain about the movie, the story, the character, the camera work, and the location all blend well together to give a nice experience to the viewers.
