Veteran actor Jamuna passes away due to age-related issues
Veteran actor Jamuna who has been part of over 200 movies in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi passed away at the age of 86 at her residence on Friday. The actress is survived by her son and daughter and it has been reported that she died due to age-related issues.
For those who don’t know, Jamuna was born in Hampi, Karnataka on August 30, 1936, and she made her acting debut at the age of 16 with the 1953 movie Puttillu. Later she was seen playing a supporting role in NT Rama Rao and Akkineni Nageswara Rao starrer Missamma. She has done over 200 movies in several languages throughout her career and later she joined politics in 1980.
She joined the Congress party and was later elected to Lok Sabha from the Rajahmundry constituency. However, Jamuna quit the party as her political career did not flourish. Later, the actress joined BJP and campaigned for the party in the late 1990s.
