Willem Dafoe to feature in Robert Eggers’ ‘Nosferatu’?
Robert Eggers is currently working on his next horror venture ‘Nosferatu’ and it has been reported that he is in talks with four-time Academy Award nominee Willem Dafoe for the project. According to Deadline, Dafoe is being considered for a key role in this venture. For those who don’t know, this will mark the third collaboration between Eggers and Dafoe. They previously collaborated on ‘The Lighthouse’ and ‘The Northman’.
Both these ventures were extremely well-received and it makes sense to go with another collaboration for what Eggers has confessed to being his passion project. Eggers has even revealed that he has been obsessed with this project since childhood.
Coming back to Nosferatu, it is the crown of the silent film era and it will now be presented with a masterful spin by Eggers. It has been reported that the film will have the basics of the original and like the original, it will be set in 19th-century Germany. The role of the titular ancient Transylvanian vampire will be portrayed by Bill Skarsgard in Eggers Nosferatu.
Nosferatu is financed by Jeff Robinov, John Graham, Robert Eggers, Chris Columbus, and Eleanor Columbus under the banner of Focus Features and its release date is yet to be announced.
