Former CBFC Chief Asha Parekh sides with Pathaan; says, “This is the height of bullying”

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Pathaan just passed the Central Board Of Film Certification and got a U/A certificate. Several things were changed as per the CBFC’s instruction but the color of Deepika’s clothes from the Besharam Rang song was not changed. As the Saffron color bikini was the major point of the whole controversy, many showed displeasure against this decision.

To talk about this issue and express her concern about Pathaan, former actress and former chairperson of the CBFC Asha Parekh said, “Our industry has never gone through such a bad phase. I’ve been part of it for more than sixty years. I have never seen such a low phase in the history of the industry. Pathaan needs to be released without any hindrance. Yash Raj has suffered a series of blows recently. They can’t afford another one.”

The former actress asks to look for a better solution instead of the boycott by saying, “Let them remove the song if that’s what it takes to ensure a smooth release for Pathaan. Although let me state very clearly that I’m totally opposed to such bullying. Why should some elements decide on behalf of the entire nation on what’s good and what’s not? You don’t want to see the film, don’t see it. I want to see the film. Why are you stopping me?”

Ashaji also said that this is bullying and no community can claim ownership over any color. “Why is a stamp being put on one particular color? Every color is equally beautiful. Orange was such a favorite color of many of us, heroines. Imagine being told, don’t wear this color don’t wear that color. This is the height of bullying. No community can claim ownership over any color,” she concluded.
