James Cameron becomes the first director to have 3 movies with a $2 billion collection at the global box office!
James Cameron’s recent movie Avatar: The Way of Water has officially grossed 2 billion dollars at the global box office. This is the sixth movie to ever reach such a milestone and with its addition, James Cameron has become the first director to have 3 movies that have grossed $ 2 billion at the global box office.
Avatar: The Way of Water has joined Cameron’s Titanic (1997) and the first installment of Avatar (2009) to give such achievement to the director. Aside from these, Avengers: Endgame ($2.7 billion), Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($2.07 billion), and Avengers: Infinity War ($2.05 billion) are the other movies that have grossed $ 2 billion at the global belt. Previously Cameron was in the leagues with Anthony and Joe Russo, directors of Infinity War and Endgame, by having more than one $2 billion film.
Meanwhile, Cameron is currently looking forward to the re-release of his 1997 classic Titanic. The movie is set to release on February 10 and talking about this date Cameron said, “Well, the date that made sense to me was Valentine’s Day because the highest-grossing single day of the (original) release was Valentine’s Day.” “Kind of obvious why, but very unusual for a film that’s been in the marketplace for two months to have its biggest single performing day. So it’s a celebration of love. It’s a celebration of the movie, at the same time. And it’s a celebration of the success of the movie as well,” he added.
